A newly refitted 110m yacht required specialized tenders, including a high-speed SOLAS-compliant rescue boat designed to meet unique offshore performance requirements.
PROJECT
Jan. ‘14 - feb. ‘15
A client with a newly acquired 110m yacht under refit sought to replace two of their yacht tenders during the refit period. One was a 7m SOLAS rescue boat, while the other was a crew tender. They desired the SOLAS rescue boat to achieve high speeds in offshore conditions and be equipped to accommodate six passengers in a style akin to military RIBs. Given that no existing options matched these specific requirements, a custom solution became the only viable approach.
To meet these specifications, a custom hull was sourced and transformed with SOLAS-compliant fittings, including a custom console, six suspension seats, and shock-absorbing deck materials. Twin 250hp outboard motors were installed, tested, and received SOLAS certification, achieving a top speed of 56 knots with six passengers aboard. Communication equipment was added so passengers could converse with each other and the yacht while underway, ensuring a complete and compliant high-performance tender solution.
